Locals are invited to Jozi 4 Autism walk at Johannesburg Zoo

The Jozi 4 Austim walk tickets are R80 per adult and R50 per child, with children aged under 3 being free.

Jozi 4 Autism organised an Autism Walk at the Johannesburg Zoo on September 17, and invites locals to participate.

The walk is a follow-up to their successful series of walks held from 2014 to 2019, and an ideal opportunity for families with children to spend time while helping to raise funds for the vital cause.

Occupational therapist and director of Jozi 4 Autism, Tasneem Abrahams said, “Past autism walks have helped us complete projects including revamping an inner-city playground, and reaching out to autistic kids in disadvantaged communities. We would encourage anyone who is the parent of an autistic child, or knows someone who is, to take part and help us make more noise about the needs and contribution of autistic people.”

Founder of Strange Duck and director of Jozi 4 Autism, Karen Gouvelis added that raising a child with autism is immensely rewarding, but it can also be challenging, especially in communities where support and understanding are constrained by economic circumstances.

Registration is on on the day from 06:30 and the walk begins at 07:30.

Tickets are R80 per adult and R50 per child, with children aged under three able to take part for free.

Tickets are available through Quicket, and all funds raised will go directly towards the essential work of Jozi 4 Autism.
