Craighall Park resident Anthony Felet, had written to JRA many times requesting the reinstate of the roads damaged and left by Joburg Water (JW) in Devonshire Avenue. Following no action, he got in touch with the CRA pothole team and they decided to use the money the association raised through members of the association to fix the pothole together.

“I emailed and phoned Joburg Water about a dozen times over 20 weeks, officials from Joburg Water kept promising me they would escalate this but failed to attend to it,” said Felet.

The CRA fixed potholes on Devonshire and Rutland avenues. Becker further explained that they got help from nearby residents who heard the work and came out to help the CRA with a pick. He said the resources for the job, such as asphalt, bitumen, and tools, was completed with funds raised previously for pothole repairs by the CRA members.

He thanked their members for making the work possible and called on residents to please reach out to the CRA if they have pressing pothole issues, or to support them financially by joining the membership or donating tools so they can ramp up their efforts to make their suburb great again. Martin Williams, councillor of ward 90 added that he appreciates the good work the CRA is doing in Craighall Park and it’s a great initiative for the community.
