The school’s admission and marketing manager Lianda May said the championships would take place from August 2–6.

“Holmes started judo at the age of five and competed in numerous provincial, regional and national competitions since the age of nine. She trains at the Hajime Judo Club in Bryanston under the instruction of sensei Paul Nothnagel.”

To qualify as a South African team member, the St Teresa’s learner had to compete in a number of national ranking judo competitions over this past year, of which she has had to be placed either first, second or third.

May said Holmes would compete in group three (girls aged 12 and 13) and would challenge other competitors in the 63+ weight category.
