Warriors With A Purpose hosted a food drive at Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital

Warriors With A Purpose hosted a food drive at Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in support of adults and children fighting cancer on June 20.

Founder of the non-profit organisation, Renée Singh said, the aim of the food drive was for upliftment.

“Young to old people fighting the cancer battle were uplifted. Not only were these patients fed, but also given hope and support in their journeys. Through creating childhood cancer awareness and adult cancer awareness, many shared their journeys and felt inspired by us being there for them through their challenging battles.”

Whilst at the adult Oncology ward, many thanked Warriors With A Purpose for reaching out to them and giving them the love, hope and support they need through this journey.

Apostle Felix Edetokon ministered and gave motivation, hope and support to the warriors.

Singh added that her highlight of the day was Tania Hansrod, a breast cancer patient currently in palliative care.

“Hansrod is a faith-filled brave cancer warrior who was diagnosed with breast cancer 13 years ago. To honour her, we have launched the TH Project of love initiative. TH Project Of Love donated a few gift bags towards breast cancer patients.”

She noted that everyday is a new learning experience in the cancer journey, there is much to know after diagnosis diagnosed and throughout the journey.

The founder concluded that Warriors With A Purpose looked forward to being trained as cancer patient navigators and fully trained counsellors.

“We will continue to reach out to many lives as possible. Including raising much awareness on communities. It is important to empower youth and adults on the cancer diagnosis.”
