Organisations and Lions cricket partners spent their 67 minutes at the DP Wanderers Stadium

In the spirit of Ubuntu and remembering Nelson Mandela, The Angel Network and Fingertips of Africa in collaboration with DP World Wanderers Stadium, joined hands in a heartfelt Mandela Day initiative on July 18.

The day was also commemorated with Ashraful Aid, an NGO that provided thousands of food and hygiene hampers which were packed by cricket players, community members and different organisations.

Lions Cricket CEO Jono Leaf-Wright said, “There is no better way to celebrate Mandela Day than the gift of giving. We at Lions Cricket continue to remain focused on not only producing great cricketers on the field but great people off it, people who are committed to impacting communities and lives positively, as we build our province and country together.”

The founder of The Angel Network, Glynne Wolman noted that 36 homes, an early childhood development centre and a soup kitchen were built in Orange Farm as part of the Mandela initiative and six more homes would be built in KwaZulu-Natal.

The Angel Network and Fingertips of Africa aimed to build 100 homes (zinc structures) as part of their Mandela Day initiative and donate the homes to communities and townships in need across the province.
