Pirates Rugby Club celebrated player Duncan Delport for receiving his 100th cap playing for the club in Greenside. The 32-year-old rugby player started playing rugby at eight years old and since then the passion has forever been ignited.
Delport says his journey at Pirates Rugby Club began in 2015 and it has been great so far.
“The year I joined Pirates I got chosen for the Amateur Lions Club team. I have been coached by great coaches like Michael Bondesio, James Small and more,” said Delport. He added that he had always wanted to play for the Lions from a young age.
“Achieving the 100th cap was great because not a lot of people get to achieve that milestone,” Delport said.
He acknowledged that the hard work they put in practice at Pirates every week in and week out gave them the ability to play rugby for longer.
Delport said he always wanted to play professional rugby but never got the opportunity to. He concluded, “So for now it’s giving my all to Pirates until my body can’t anymore.”
