Newly elected DA shadow member for Development Planning is happy about his new role

Daniel Schay has worked on numerous large scale projects including the Marlboro Gautrain Station as well as reservoirs for the Vhembe District Municipality.

Ward 72 councillor and newly elected DA shadow member for Development Planning, Daniel Schay is elated about his new role.

Schay said his expertise in this field allows him to intricately understand many aspects of this portfolio on a highly technical level.

“I have a qualification in civil engineering and have spent over a decade prior to becoming a councillor working in a structural engineering consultancy. I have worked on numerous large-scale projects including many government projects like the Marlboro Gautrain Station as well as reservoirs for the Vhembe District Municipality.”

The ward 72 councillor added that there are numerous issues within the development planning department that he will be driving to see improvements on, which include:

He concluded that in order for a city like Joburg to thrive and grow again, it requires to be able to plan its development and it simply cannot plan any services in an environment where construction is a free-for-all with little, to no repercussions.

“I intend to hold the officials and politicians responsible for allowing property by law enforcement to be neglected, to account for their actions.”
