Warriors with a Purpose ‘painted’ Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital’s oncology ward pink with their bra project on May 17.
The NPO’s founder and breast cancer survivor Renee Singh said the foundation partnered with Jason’s Angels to support ‘breast cancer warriors’.
“The Pink Bra Project goes towards women that will or have had a mastectomy or double mastectomy and do not proceed with the reconstruction process of implants. The bras give them confidence and hope due to the bra being able to be worn with a breast cushioning pad. This is an important way of uplifting the lives of the women who are going through the toughest battle of their lives,” she said.y
Also in attendance was Mrs Grand South Africa finalist Tamara Nel who said having a good bra was important as it gave women the support required and added to their confidence.
Cancer patient Nomvula Ekuonye expressed her gratitude to the NPO. “The breast cancer I was diagnosed with is at stage four and I have been on chemotherapy since February this year after being diagnosed last year October. Although I don’t experience terrible side effects, initiatives like Warriors with a Purpose coming to visit us and giving us gifts help to cheer us up and encourage us to keep fighting and stand strong.”
