Football stars enjoy a friendly match
The Norwood Young Stars FC head coach says he was glad that the boys were not on drugs or out there making unwise decisions but having fun playing football.
The Norwood Young Stars Football Club players enjoyed a friendly match with neighbouring teams on a public holiday. On Human Rights Day, March 21, the Norwood Young Stars(in a blue kit) junior team based in Norwood played with Bramley Young Stars (in a lime green kit) and the senior team (in black) played with Arsenal Football Club (FC) (in red) at the Norwood Paterson Park.
Head coach of Norwood Young Stars, Lucky Zuma said the game had been great with the boys enjoying themselves. “I told them they just need to relax and enjoy the game while trying to avoid injuries. We’re playing a league and this is a friendly match. We’re here just to have fun, it’s not a win at all costs. We are putting some of the technical aspects of the game to practice but overall we’re just enjoying ourselves,” said Zuma.
He added that they were happy to be doing what they do best and love on Human Rights Day. Zuma concluded, “The boys are not doing drugs or making foolish decisions but they’re here playing football so I think it serves the purpose of human rights. Results are not important today.”
Head coach of Arsenal FC, Stephen Jacobs, commended all teams for playing with discipline in the first half. He however expressed he was not happy with his team’s first half performance but hoped for a better second-half performance. He said, “The players know they must enjoy the game and entertain the community while enjoying Human Rights Day.”
Norwood Young Stars FC founder Venita Masisi reiterated that the club needs donors and sponsors to assist with funding the club towards matches, kits and more. She also thanked Bidvest Services International for their recent generous donation of toiletries for the players.
