Johannesburg Zoo’s executive manager Louise Gorden was impressed by the 5km Trot turnout on March 12.
The event is organised monthly to promote a healthy lifestyle with a wildlife view for the community.
Gorden said, “Today’s trot turnout was great, we are always looking forward to more numbers with every trot. Although winter is approaching and the zoo is generally a cold place, I am hoping more people will come through because it’s a safe activity for children and a place where they can also see animals.”
The executive manager added their staff was excited about the zoo’s upcoming 119th birthday as it was an opportunity to make the community aware of the animals and wildlife.
City of Johannesburg MMC of Community Development Lubalo Magwentshu said, “It was good to be part of the 5km Johannesburg Zoo Trot. As the City of Johannesburg, we’re excited about the zoo trot initiative because it encourages sports discipline in families and communities.”
