Ward 117 councillor believes new coalition will last

Political parties will commence their campaigns this year for next year's elections.

Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck said although 2022 was eventful, he looked forward to the new year.

“Last year was a turbulent one with unstable coalitions, motions of no confidence and court cases. I believe that a new coalition guided by the lessons learned last year is imminent, this one should be more stable and long-lasting. The city needs long-term political stability over several decades to turn it around.”

Truluck added that after a ward inspection with the MMC and Joburg Water late last year, it seemed as though the issues with Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) have been ironed out and he was notified that ward 117 was a top priority.

The councillor noted that he visited the Service Delivery Centre (SDC) at Reuven in Booysens.

“I was told that residents from the Hursthill area can make use of the Reuven centre for their queries until Hursthill gets its own SDC later this year. I would advise that only residents with longstanding issues over a few days use the SDC.”

Truluck said JRA has been allocated budgets for this, but City Parks are struggling with JRA to get permission to carry out any work. This should be resolved soon.

The councillor concluded by encouraging residents to register for the upcoming elections next year.
