‘We don’t’ have electricity here! Go to Megawatt’: ANC tells DA at #PowerToThePeople march

The African National Congress has retaliated against the Democratic Alliance following its planned electricity march today. The party refuses to be made a scapegoat.

Following the Power to the People march organised by the Democratic Alliance on Wednesday, 25 January, the ruling party, the African National Congress (ANC) came out guns blazing and told them to go to Eskom to fight for electricity.

Speaking to this website’s journalist, Lucky Bhengu from the ANC offices Under Umkhonto Wesizwe at Luthuli House said they were present at the march because they want to protect their offices from being vandalised by the wrong people.

“[If people want electricity, they must go to City Power. We are not housing electricity here at Luthuli House. I am speaking under Luthuli House…we are here to protect out office. We will protect it however we see fit as the ANC MK,” Bhengu said.

Yamukela Methuse who is the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) chairperson for the Eastern Cape said the Democratic Alliance knows where the problem is and it is with the ANC.

The national coordinator of the ANCYL Joy Maimela says the ANC will be leading its own march where it will be submitting its own memorandum with a list of demands at Megawatts.
