Parkview SAPS station commander welcomes Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court conviction

Colonel Govender commended Sergeant Mmeli Mzolo for his dedication and commitment. He worked with diligence to collect the evidence that led to the accused conviction.

The station Commander of Parkview, Colonel Devan Govender welcomed the conviction of two accused after they were arrested on January 19, 2022, at Jan Smuts Avenue, Westcliff for possession of two bicycles valued at R60 534.

Parkview police spokesperson Tisetso Sibeko said the two men were convicted at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.

“On November 7 the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court convicted and sentenced David Sithole and Simon Mthindimira for possession of the stolen property. David Sithole was sentenced to two years of direct imprisonment and was declared unfit to possess a firearm. Simon Mthindimira was sentenced to one-year direct imprisonment.”

The Station Commander thanked the partnership between the police and security companies within the Parkview policing precinct for addressing the causes of crime, investigating and preventing all acts which threaten the safety of the residents.
