Local celebrities and social media influencers dressed in their best African-inspired regalia for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever premiere at The Zone.
Speaking on November 9, a local resident Mahlatsi Mahlaku said she was excited to welcome actress Connie Chiume home.
“This marvel movie is special because our very own South African actress Connie Chiume stars in it which is a huge win for the arts industry in this country.”
The 161-minutes marvel movie which stars Angela Bassett (Queen Ramonda), Letitia Wright, (Shuri), Winston Duke (M’Baku), Danai Gurira (Okoye) and Florence Kasumba (Dora Milaje) fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death.
As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must unite with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda. Introducing Tenoch Huerta as Namor, king of a hidden undersea nation.
Celebrities that walked the black carpet included Somizi Mhlongo, Nambitha Ben-Mazwi, LaSizwe Dambuza and Connie Chiume.
Another local resident, Ayanda Zwide, added she was impressed by the fashion on the black carpet and couldn’t wait to watch the movie.
“Everyone looks amazing in their heritage clothing. I hope the movie is as great as the first one.”
