Locals bowl to raise funds

Pirates Club hosts fundraiser events every three months.

Pirates Bowls Club’s hosted a themed fundraising event held at Greenside on November 6.

Men adhered to the theme by wearing colourful dresses, sunhats and lipstick.

The club’s sub-committee Anita Hollis member said the goal was to have fun while fundraising for charity.

“The players contributed in the form of stationery and financially. We host fundraiser events every three months and we’d like to recruit new members to the club because it is a sport that accommodates most ages.”

A bowler David Graham added that he was glad to be part of the initiative and was happy to be raising funds through a sport he enjoyed playing.

Director of Adventures for Love charity Colette Reid explained that the charity worked closely with the charity.

“We partner with the Pirates Bowls Club often, so how it works is that they raise funds on our behalf. The charity was established by a group of women who were friends and decided we could do adventures and raise funds.”

Reid concluded that the charity worked with a lot of different types of initiatives, but it was currently raising funds for a shelter for women who were trafficked.

The charity accepted donations in the form of stationery and non-perishable items.
