“I’ve mentored a lot of youngsters who urged me to write my story because they have benefitted from my teachings. They urged me to write about my weaknesses and failures as there was more to learn according to them. I spent the last two years writing my autobiography after retiring from Sasol.”

Radebe said the title The Fuel to Lead was inspired by the 30 years he spent in the energy and fuel industry throughout his career.

The Professor explained that the book details his early years in Katlehong where he was under the tutelage of his grandfather and mentor, Philemon Radebe, who built from the ground up one of the biggest trading stores in the area.

“This is where my love for business and leadership was ignited.”

Nkosi added “Radebe shares with vulnerability the challenges he and his wife faced as their first child was born differently abled. After spending a number of years at Shell where he held a cozy managerial position, he took a leap of faith and was one of the founding leaders of Exel Petroleum, a black-owned and black-managed oil and energy company that became one of the leaders in the sector.”
