Car jamming perpetrators in Melrose run and leave evidence behind

Jamming machines left behind by suspects in Melrose booked into the Norwood recovery register and to be sent for DNA tests.

Three perpetrators hit a dead end after trying to steal a motor vehicle. Norwood Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Eric Masotsha reported that on October 3 at about 12:00, a Norwood patrol van was sent to attend to a theft of motor vehicle complaint.

On their [patrol officers’] arrival at a well-known business place in Melrose, they found a complainant who explained to them that there were three perpetrators who tried stealing his motor vehicle but after they bumped into a wall, the men then jumped out and ran away.

Masotsha said the complainant then pointed out a black carry bag containing five jamming machine bags. “Fortunately the motor vehicle was recovered and handed back to the lawful owner after the processing of everything. All the abandoned exhibits were booked in at the Norwood recovery register and will soon be taken to the forensic unit for a DNA test.

“Again, we urge anyone with information about the abandoned illegal jammer machines to come forward and chat with the detective head Lieutenant Colonel Nthabeleng Mahoa on 011 483 4610/14 or myself, Sergeant Masotsha on 082 822 7931,” said the spokesperson.

Perpetrators run off and leave these car jammers as well as the vehicle they were trying to steal.
