Residents from Parkview and surrounding areas made their way in numbers to the Parkview Heritage Festival.

The festival hosted on September 24 in the Tyrone Avenue precinct in Parkview incorporated the popular Parkwords event that last took place in 2019.

Attendees participated in a variety of events including browsing markets with curated locally produced artisan goods, live entertainment from various groups and children’s play areas, amongst others.

Parkview Residents Association (PRA) marketing and communication liaison Caryl Kelly said as a part of their festival planning and as a result of the road closure, they had prepared 100 meals for the displaced people in the area. These were distributed off-site at St Columba’s Presbyterian Church.

“Thank you to our sponsor Ronnie Muruven from Living Link Realty Property Group for covering some of these costs; to St Columba’s Presbyterian Church for packing these 100 food parcels and all the support staff and entertainment snack packs. We are very grateful to you.

“A big thank you to Parkview Tyrone Avenue SPAR for sponsoring the rolls and bags and to our resident Jaco and RSA Group for sponsoring five big boxes of apples.”

No less than 56 units were collected for the South African Blood Donation Service on the day.

The PRA extended its gratitude to all participants, sponsors and contributors to the event.
