Greenside Residents Association hosts second annual Green Day
From attaining information about community initiatives to participating in children’s activities, Greenside residents obtained a lot from the Green Day event.
Greenside community members enjoyed a free fun day at the Green Day event at Sir Lionel Philips Park on September 17.
The chairperson of Greenside Residents Association Judith Ancer said, “Green Day is an opportunity for community members to come out, meet their neighbours and enjoy a fun day in our wonderful green space.”
Residents could on the day visit the association’s stall to collect their resident passes, collect or order bin stickers, pay their annual association membership fees and donate to support the Green Crew and other community initiatives.

“This is a lovely opportunity for people to find out what is happening in the suburb. We have representatives from our heritage, greening and security committees who can provide residents with information on how to lodge a heritage application, how they can support the greening of the suburb and any security-related questions.”
The family-friendly event included free children’s activities including a jumping castle and face painting.
Families enjoyed a variety of snacks and a range of food stalls selling delicious Mexican-inspired meals as well as mocktails and other drinks.

The association had also arranged for local crafters to come and showcase their wares. There were yoga demonstrations and Community Active Protection offered a home helpers training workshop and gave a canine unit display.
“We hope to see many familiar faces from the suburb and lots of new ones too, as we reconnect for the first time since the start of the pandemic.”
