Join in the Cool Ideas Pirates 10k this weekend

The Pirates 10k race course will go through leafy Greenside, Parkview and Westcliff.

The Cool Ideas Pirates 10k race in association with Manoni is back. Pirates Road Running Club, Greenside, chairman Gerry Greyling said for those wanting to get off the couch and get fit for summer, or if you want to break your own personal record (or personal best) over the 10km distance, the race is for you.

Known as Joburg’s fastest 10k because of the way the route is structured, the race returns after only being held virtually last year due to Covid-19, this time to its new time slot in September to make use of the warmer spring weather.

Greyling said, “The course goes through leafy Greenside, Parkview and Westcliff and starts with a gentle climb at 07:00 while the legs are still fresh. Once you reach the top it’s a long straight downhill where you can really make up time and finish the race in your own record time”.

The race course will go through Greenside, Parkview and Westcliff.

This year the first 1 500 entrants will all receive a free t-shirt and goodie bag. Entries for the run that takes place on September 18 are available at entrytickets.net/coolideas10, at Sweat Shop or at Randburg Runner. Online entries close on September 14 and entries are limited to 3 000 participants.
