The Parkview Heritage Festival set to be bigger

Tyrone Avenue will be abuzz with action and colour as the Parkview Heritage Festival takes centre stage on Heritage Day.

The Parkview Residents’ Association will host a community-focused Parkview Heritage Festival on Heritage Day. The event on September 24 will be hosted in the Tyrone Avenue precinct.

Building on the popular Parkwords event that last took place in 2019, a bigger event with broader appeal has been planned for this year, celebrating family fun and embracing culture, diversity, and inclusion through music, theatre, food, authors, book sales, art and a curated artisanal market.

All proceeds from the festival will support the refurbishment and renovation of the Parkview Library.

Activities planned include:

The residents association stated that Tyrone Avenue’s well-known restaurants will operate throughout the day, taking advantage of the closed precinct to offer their wares out on the pavement and street.

As the festival takes places from 09:00 to 20:00, Tyrone Avenue will be closed, with controlled access points on Roscommon, Athlone and Ennis roads. The dedicated children’s areas will have managed access with a sign-in and sign-out process.

Tickets, at R50, provide all-day, all-access entry and residents can go to Webtickets to book.
