Parkview’s acting station commander commends the police’s swift response

Seven suspects arrested by Parkview SAPS appeared at Hillbrow Magistrate's Court.

Parkview police arrested seven suspects, in two separate incidents, for possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicles and possession of car-breaking implements on March 17.

The station’s spokesperson Captain Tisetso Sibeko said the seven suspects were aged between 22 and 47 years old.

“Parkview police received information from CAP Security that there are cars involved in the theft of a motor vehicle in Parkhurst. The police drove to 4th Avenue and 6th Street Parkhurst and a silver Toyota Etios was spotted with three men inside.”

Sibeko added that while searching the motor vehicle, a car jamming device, computer boxes and car-breaking implements were discovered.

The captain explained that further investigations revealed that the car was reported stolen at the SAPS Parkview.

“The trio were arrested for possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle and possession of car-breaking implements. On the same day, the police proceeded to 3rd Avenue and 7th street in Parkhurst when a white Toyota Etios with four occupants was spotted, the police searched the vehicle and discovered that the car’s vehicle identifying number (vin) was scratched out and that it had been reported stolen at SAPS Brixton. Car-breaking implements were also found in the vehicle.”

She said all four suspects were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property and possession of car-breaking implements.

All seven suspects appeared in the Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court on March 20 to answer charges.

Parkview’s acting station commander Lieutenant Colonel Dula Mokwena commended the police and CAP Security for their swift response and a job well done. Law enforcement agencies in the Parkview policing precinct will continue to address the causes of crime and investigate and prevent all acts which threaten the safety of residents.
