As family and friends gathered to honour his memory, an emotional tribute was shared, reflecting on his impact on those around him. “If you’re not here, you’re not here,” was a phrase he often used, embodying his zest for life and the experiences he cherished. His passing came unexpectedly while mountain biking at Toroko trails, a testament to his adventurous spirit and passion for living life to the fullest.
He was well aware of his significance to others. He inspired those around him, not out of self-importance but from a genuine desire to uplift and empower. His family recalled the love he had for his patients. He often went above and beyond to care for them, even taking on consults during holidays. He treated every child with a tenderness that made him a beloved figure in the community.
His family remembered him as a man who never ceased to explore and share his passions, whether through astronomy, kitesurfing, or chess. He had a remarkable ability to connect with others, always eager to share his latest discoveries or lend a helping hand through acts of kindness or advice.

As the community mourns his loss, they also celebrate his remarkable life. Kaplan was a doctor, mentor, and friend, who made everyone feel valued and heard. His commitment to helping others extended beyond the confines of his practice, offering support to those in need without expecting anything in return.
In the words of his daughter, Tayla Blaire, “Look after the ‘wife of his life’ and his kids. Do acts of kindness without seeking credit. Start that hobby you’ve put off; it’s never too late.”
Kaplan may no longer be physically present, but his spirit and legacy will continue to inspire those he touched. He will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many lives he cared for.
