The partnership between Friends of Zoo Lake and Fibre Circle began in May 2023. Fibre Circle, South Africa’s paper and paper packaging producer responsibility organisation, sponsors the Zoo Lake recycling project.

The initiative converts recyclable waste from the park into valuable donations for park maintenance and upgrades. Paper and cardboard are particularly valuable in this process, and Fibre Circle aims to enhance the project’s impact and reduce landfill waste.

The NGO which will also be at the cleanup, Friends of Zoo Lake, oversees the care and upkeep of Zoo Lake. The NGO benefits from the proceeds of the recyclables collected through the project, which supports the park’s maintenance and improvement efforts.
