Practising its service core value as a school, Kingsmead College hosted a toy-making workshop.
All of the toys are made from upcycled material. Once the toys are made, a toy box is created, one for each toy, and the toy boxes are then donated to low-resourced Early childhood development (ECD) centres.
Kingsmead College’s director of service highlighted the importance of 67 minutes for Mandela Day.
“Service is one of our values that we practice throughout the year. Mandela Day is every day at the school, but it is a wonderful day to get together with our community (junior school children, senior school staff, and parents).”

Landi added that the school partnered with Clothes To Good.
“It is also an opportunity for our learners to understand how little other children have, and to gift them with something that they have made with love today.”
