Highlands Park defeats Edenvale Football Club

Highlands Park U12 and U15 teams win against Edenvale Football Club in a recent matches.

Cheers, screams, and jubilation filled the Highlands Park field on June 30 during the U12 match against the Edenvale Football Club.

The Highlands Park U12 coach, Sizwe Nkosi, said he was pleased with the 5-1 win.

“I am happy with how the team performed. I am also pleased with how they managed to catch up and win the game, especially when the other team led 2-0. I told them during half-time that they needed to pull up their socks in the second half, and I am glad they listened.”

The Edenvale’s coach, Jason Moodley, noted that his team had room to improve.

“We could have had a stronger defence; unfortunately, some players were off sick. Our team gave such a good account of themselves that we mounted a comeback; unfortunately [we] let it slip in the last 10 minutes, once they scored the third goal. Hats off to the opposition.”

Moodley praised the team’s centre-back. “He has grown into that position and is so committed to how he plays. Our centre-forward is [also] a talented player who gives the sport his everything.”

Highlands Park U15’s remain undefeated against Edenvale Football Club.

The Highlands Park U15 coach, Dean Workman, explained that playing against Edenvale was a hard-fought match.

“We managed to walk away with a 3-2 victory. We were tough on ourselves at the end with several defensive mistakes. I’m proud of the boys; we remain undefeated and top of the table through the cup matches, and I look forward to the second half of the season where we can hopefully lift some silver at the end of it.”

“Our team needed to move the ball frequently and talk to each other while on the field. Overall, it was a fair game and we could have done better.”
