Pastor Bambanani Gumbo, who spearheaded the event, emphasised the importance of physical health in daily life. “Our mission, as a church, is to minister to the whole person – spirit, soul, and body. We want to ensure that people’s physical needs are met, as they are an integral part of our well-being.”

The event was meticulously planned, ensuring adequate resources, knowledgeable staff, and a welcoming environment. Community announcements and word of mouth helped attract significant attendance from both church members and the broader community.

Health care professionals conducted educational sessions, promoting healthy practices across all age groups. Noxolo Majola, an attendee, appreciated the initiative, stating, “I think it’s great. We often neglect our health, but events like this remind us of the importance of regular check-ups.”

Despite some logistical challenges, such as late arrivals delaying the start, the event was a success. The church plans to make this an annual event and hopes to extend its services to other areas beyond Kew.

Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a desire for more frequent health check-ups and educational sessions.
The success of the event was measured by the number of attendees, the transformations in their lives, and their return for Sunday services. Gumbo reflected on the fulfilment derived from serving the community, emphasising the church’s role in promoting health and well-being. “Addressing ignorance about health can prevent fatal cases, and mismanaged chronic illnesses,” he noted.
