Eleven-year-old Muhammad Wadee has captured hearts and minds with his debut book on wildlife conservation, Charlie the Cheetah and the Chain.

Muhammad Wadee, a bright 11-year-old learner at St John’s College, has taken the literary world by storm with his debut book, Charlie Cheetah and the Chain, inspired by his family’s passion for conservation.

Growing up in Johannesburg and spending holidays in the bush, Muhammad developed a deep love for nature that shines through in his writing. Muhammad’s book aims to educate and inspire readers to take action to protect endangered wildlife. Muhammad’s journey into writing began about a year ago, fuelled by the influence of his three sisters, all published authors in the field of animal conservation

When he’s not crafting stories, Muhammad enjoys diving into the worlds of his favourite books and participating in sports like swimming and padel tennis. His academic prowess, particularly in mathematics, earns him admiration from both teachers and classmates at St John’s College.

The idea for Charlie Cheetah and the Chain was sparked during a game drive, where Muhammad learned about the impact of overgrazing on the savannah plains. His book follows Charlie, an inquisitive cheetah cub who learns about the critical role of cheetahs in the food chain and the broader ecosystem.
Muhammad’s story aims to educate young readers about the importance of conservation and the impact of human activities on the environment. He says, “I hope that my book will inspire others to become more aware and active in protecting our planet.”

Muhammad’s family and friends are extremely proud of his achievements and support his efforts to promote conservation. Through the process of writing and publishing his book.
