Rosebank Homeless Association urges community support amid winter

As the bitter cold of winter settles in, the Rosebank Homeless Association urgently appeals for donations of warm clothing and blankets to aid the homeless in enduring the freezing temperatures.

As winter’s icy grip tightens around us, the Rosebank Homeless Association urgently asks the community for assistance.

The shelves of shelters are nearly empty, particularly of men’s clothing, leaving many of our most vulnerable neighbours without the essentials to stay warm. The Rosebank Homeless Association has been a lifeline for those without homes, providing necessary support and shelter. However, this winter, the demand has outstripped the supply. donations of warm clothing – especially men’s items – along with shoes, blankets, scarves, and hats. The recent cold snap has exacerbated the situation, making these items even more critical.

Located next to the police station at 17 Sturdee Avenue, the Immaculata Shelter currently supports 477 individuals. Each one is in dire need of toiletries, non-perishable foods, warm clothing, and blankets. The association emphasises that any contributions will make a significant difference in the lives of those struggling to endure the cold.

Donations can be taken directly to the Immaculata Shelter between 9:00 and 17:00. In addition to physical items, cash donations are also welcomed and will be used to purchase necessary supplies.

“We rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the community,” said Judith Briggs, chair of the Rosebank Homeless Association. “Every piece of clothing, every can of food, and every cash donation helps us provide for those who have nothing.”

As the community navigates the challenges of winter, the Rosebank Homeless Association urges everyone to think of those who lack the basic comforts of a warm home. This appeal is not just about giving, it’s about extending a lifeline to our neighbours in their time of greatest need.
