Keep warm with Nicarela Charity’s pootjiekos competition at George Hay Park

Help raise funds to support the Nicarela Charity while eating delicious potjiekos.

The Nicarela Charity returns with their annual potjiekos competition which will be held at George Hay Park in Parkview on July 28.

Teams will cook and sell their potjiekos dishes while attendees enjoy the delicious food under the warm sky. With more than 30 pots to choose from, including vegetarian options, there will be something for everyone.

If you’re an intrepid chef, there’s still space to enter with your team of four and themed meal ideas. Contestants will be judged on their food, vibe, and decoration.

Entering a team is a team-building activity, whether for companies or extended families, all while making a difference. All proceeds from the day go entirely to beneficiaries of the charity, including care homes for abused women and children and local school bursaries.

The winning team will be crowned the 2024 potjiekos champions, and attendees can also vote for the ‘best-decorated stall’ and have a chance to win the lucky draw. A plate of potjie will be sold to attendees from midday with a choice of rice or pap at R100 per serving.

Join the teams from 09:30 to enjoy a lovely breakfast while your little ones have fun in the park.

There is no entrance fee for the public into the park, so come out and support a great cause.
