Parktown Boys’ learners go the extra mile for local commuter

In an inspiring act of everyday heroism, three Parktown Boys High School learners have been lending a hand to a local lady in a wheelchair, helping her up a steep hill on her way to work each morning.

In a touching display of youthful compassion, three learners from Parktown Boys’ High School have brightened the daily commute of a lady in a wheelchair by helping her conquer a steep hill on her way to work.

Jonathan Scott, a Grade 11 learner, along with Younus Halifa in Grade 9 and Owethu Molesane in Grade 8, have been assisting the lady since the beginning of the term. It all started when Jonathan’s friend, in a hurry one morning, asked him to help the lady up the challenging incline. Jonathan willingly stepped in, and since then, ensuring her smooth journey has become a routine for him. On days when Jonathan is unavailable, Younus and Owethu eagerly take over, demonstrating their commitment to this act.

Younus recalls the moment he decided to help: “She was at the robot; I looked at the hill and it didn’t make sense to just leave her to go up there.” This simple, yet profound observation reflects the boys’ empathy and community spirit.

In a world often filled with negative news, the actions of these three Parktown Boys’ learners stand out as a beacon of hope and humanity, demonstrating that the spirit of community and caring is alive and well in the younger generation.
