Locals, teachers, learners, and parents showed up in numbers for the Parktown High School for Girls neon run at the Killarney Country Club on May 17.
The event saw over 100 runners and walkers.
Winning male and female participants received prizes for the 5km and 10km races.
The neon night run was a fundraiser for the school’s sports programme.
The director of sports, Catherine McCreesh, said unfortunately, costs for equipment, employing coaches, and festival fees continue to rise.
“To ensure that we can continue to offer such a diverse range of sports and compete at such a high level we need to fundraise. The fundraiser is one of the many events we host throughout the year and we are grateful to all who support the event.”
McCreesh thanked the Killarney Country Club who hosted the school at no additional cost.
The race winners were:
- 5km race male winner: Parktown parent Kumbirai Chigudu
- 5km race female winners: Imogen Munton and Katryn Badenhorst, both Parktown learners
- 10km race female winner: Maya Bolton Parktown learner
- 10km race male winner: Jaco Labuschagne.
