Know your neighbour: Chef cooks up a storm in Craighall

Tiišetšo Sebola has been the head chef at Solo Restaurant in Sandton for eight months.

Local chef Tiišetšo Sebola’s (27) love and passion for cooking has landed him a position at one of Sandton’s fine dining restaurants, Solo Restaurant as the head chef.

Sebola who resides in Craighall Park with his family said he has always loved the kitchen and his biggest inspirations are his mother, grandmother and Jamie Oliver.

“My chef career started in 2015 after completing my City and Guilds certificate at Capsicum in Cape Town, working with many different chefs such as Liam Tomlin, Matt Manning, John van Zyl and Luke Dale Roberts.

Seven years after completing my certificate, my family and I moved to Parktown North; then a year ago I made the move to Craighall Park, and we have been loving it.”

His favourite dishes to make are fried chicken sando and a good steak with fresh gnocchi.

Sebola and his wife also own a food business called Wish Bone. “Most of the produce we use is sourced in and around Craighall, supporting other businesses. We currently don’t do deliveries yet but our customers can follow us on our Instagram page @wishboneza and order via WhatsApp at 066 241 0305.”

Chef Sebola enjoys cooking steak with gnocchi.

When he is not cooking up a storm in the kitchen, Sebola enjoys taking walks around the neighbourhood. “This area is centrally located to where my wife and I work and it has a ‘home ‘feel to it. It is a safe and nice neighbourhood.”
