South African television giants were treated to glamorous Night in Hollywood event

As the world was glued to their screens for the 96th Academy Awards, Don Julio 1942 offered SA’s TV stars a night of glitz and celebration.

A glamorous Night in Hollywood for SA’s biggest television stars was hosted on March 10 at Shepstone Gardens.

The night served as a beacon of honour for lifetime achievements and the rising stars and contributions of African talent to the global cinematic landscape.

The red carpet was graced by renowned actors, directors, producers, and industry insiders in their most glamorous attire. Among the star-studded guests were former Miss SA’s Lalela Mswane and Ndavi Nokheri, and TV’s biggest stars such as Warren Masemola, Mondli Makhoba, Zola Nombona and Nay Maps-Maphalala.

Presented by Don Julio 1942, who dedicated the evening to honouree’s Dr Jerry Mofokeng Makhetha and Nambitha Ben-Mazwi for their remarkable achievements in the South African film and television industry.

Makhetha reaffirmed the importance of brands entrenching their recognition in true artistry. “It is inspiring to see a global brand focus a lens on the South African film and television industry because it is the hallmark of tradition, culture and even innovation. I’m honoured to be a part of this occasion.”

Guests were treated to a tantalising three-course dinner while engaging in a robust panel discussion with industry leaders on the future of African film and television.The panellists include producer Bonga Percy Vilakazi, Multichoice content producer Nicola van Niekerk, actress Nambitha Ben Mazwi and veteran actor Makhetha, facilitated by broadcaster Anele Mdoda.

The event served as a platform for networking and collaboration, fostering meaningful connections among industry peers and stakeholders. It was a testament to the collective spirit of creativity and innovation that thrives within the African film community.
