Rosebank paddlers earn top position

Rosebank paddlers on the podium at Emmarentia Dam.

Rosebank paddlers achieved podium finishers in races hosted by the Dabulamanzi Canoe Club based at Emmarentia Dam on January 14.

The races allowed paddlers to train and prepare for the Dusi River Marathon on February 15–17 from Pietermaritzburg to Durban, the world’s toughest endurance canoe marathon.
There was an 8km paddle with a portage of 3km run with the boat, followed by a 7km paddle which was the toughest Dusi preparation race on the day.

Cayden Wilson finishes 5th in the 2km distance and 3rd in the 200m sprint for U12s.

The locals, Robert Crighton partnered with Ryan Rodda who finished the tough red route at 01:34:00 while the top women’s team was mother and daughter Karen and Sarah Fields. Karen is a teacher at Rosebank High School where her daughter attends.

Various race options were made available for paddlers of varying fitness levels.
