An enquiry was opened to establish if it was a case of human trafficking or smuggling.

Thatohatsi Mavimbela of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks), confirmed that 13 Ethiopian nationals were found in a house in Parkview on February 6.

“Among those found, four of them are minors aged between 14 and 15 years. Among those found yesterday, seven of them have been taken to hospital for treatment of injuries sustained while attempting to run away from authorities.”

Mavimbela added the minors were taken to a place of safety.

He noted that an enquiry was opened to establish if the case was of human trafficking or smuggling as well as to establish who the property belonged to.

“At this stage, this is all we can divulge as the matter is still at a sensitive stage.”
