Parktown Boys’ High School headmaster looks forward to another 100 years of excellence

Parktown Boys' High School headmaster, Kevin Stippel attended the school in the mid '90s and was the head boy.

Parktown Boys’ High School headmaster, Kevin Stippel recalls the school’s historic year and looks forward the 2024.

“For a hundred years, this school has stood as a beacon of knowledge, shaping young minds and nurturing talents. This year also saw the launch Parktown 2027 which is a five-year vision for what the school will look like when our current Grade 8’s reach matric.”

Parktown 2027 is a checkpoint, not a destination, which is underpinned by principles and values which include:

  • Respect for all: our core underlying value.
  • To be a leader in South African education.
  • Community service and outreach.
  • Top academic school in science, technology, arts, and mathematics

Stippel added that 2023 was a good occasion that allowed the school an opportunity to celebrate all that is good about the school in its centenary year, “It has been an honour to have led the school as the headmaster in our centenary year.”

My highlights include:

  • The basketball section’s clean sweep of Jeppe High School for Boys.
  • The school band played at various corporate events including the Springbok test at Ellis Park.
  • The RCL focused on mental wellness and transformation campaigns.
  • The Heart of the Lion boys continued their fantastic work in community service, with several projects linked to Rainbows and Smiles and other charitable organisations.

The headmaster said as we approach the end of 2023, the school celebrates its heritage; and are fully committed and focused on the next hundred years of excellence, innovation, growth, and positive change.”
