Domestic workers were celebrated by the Union of Jewish Women Johannesburg

The Union of Jewish Women is an organisation which has various programmes such as feeding schemes to support this.

The Union of Jewish Women Johannesburg showed their appreciation for the contribution that domestic workers make to our lives by hosting a tea event at Jabulani Recreation Centre in Sandringham on November 16.

Guest speaker and author Charley Pietersen spoke about single-mother households, where children grow up without a father, sadly a huge reality in our country.

The union’s chairman Ingrid Koor explained that the union was pleased to celebrate domestic workers.

“Today we celebrate domestic workers. We couldn’t do what we do without the women who run our homes and look after our children, you are all so precious to us and what you do for us doesn’t go unnoticed.”

Koor added it was part of the union’s mandate to make a difference in people’s communities.
