Parktown Girls come first in soccer and cross country

Parktown High School for Girls obtained excellent Spring Sports’ Festival results as they came out first in soccer and cross country.

Parktown High School for Girls hosted their annual Spring Sports Festival with 20 different schools taking part in six different sporting codes.

The festival took place on October 13 and 14 as shared in a report by the school’s director of Sport, Catherine McCreesh. The school thanked the hospitality team who took on the task of making lunch for all 500 players and making sure that the cameramen, paramedics and umpires were catered for with food and drinks throughout the weekend. Thanks was also expressed to the parents’ association who ran a tuck-shop on October 14 from the Matric Gardens.

“We were thrilled to have so many sponsors on board this year and would like to thank them for getting involved. Because of the involvement of the sponsors, we were able to give every participant and staff member from all schools a goodie bag which included a festival cap, water bottle, sunscreen and Wits Information booklet,” said McCreesh.

On their marks, the girls are all set for the race ahead.

She said there were also great prizes for each player of the festival, including take-home trophies. Wits sponsored all the trophies as well as floating trophies for each sport which Parktown Girls will be able to use for many years to come. McCreesh said in addition, Wits Sport set up a great E-gaming area on Saturday for the players to enjoy in between their matches. Gratitude was also rendered to the enormous number of people who made the festival possible.
