Kraizie aims to heal through is music

Rosebank-based music artist Kraizie speaks more about his journey in the South African music industry.

Songwriter, rapper, and recording artist Sizwe Andrew Thabethe aka Kraizie from Zonkizizwe, Johannesburg fell into entertainment at the tender age of eight.

The 30-year-old highlighted that in primary school he used to do dramatic arts and was in the choir.

“In high school, I was part of a group called Peer Education, run by the late Akhumzi Jezile, which had some bricks in building my character and career,” he said.

Kraizie rose to fame in 2015 after joining the award-winning record label Ambitiouz Entertainment based in Rosebank.

Separate from music, Kraizie is also a traditional healer, although they may seem as if they are two different worlds, his spiritual practices tie in with his music.

He described himself as a multi-talented star who comes with an acting background, doing cameo roles for popular TV shows such as uGugu no Andile, YoTv, and The Queen.
“I use my music to advocate for ordinary people so that they feel heard and understood.”

In 2022, Kraizie released the track Thumela in which he featured his stablemates S’Villa and Snymaan. The emotive lyrics were aimed to resonate with people who worked hard in big cities so they could send money home.

Kraize said he aimed to heal through his music and the Thumela lyrics highlighted that and encouraged everyone to be proud of who they were.
