Improving and uplifting the Rosebank area

The Rosebank Management District is hard at work ensuring the precinct remains walkable and pedestrian-friendly through the repaving of walkways.

Creating a well-integrated, mixed-use precinct that thrives and leads as an example of environmental sustainability, livability, connectivity, diversity, and innovation is what the Rosebank Management District (RMD) strives for.

The Rosebank Management District representative, Basil Ngakane, says that the RMD is a not-for-profit company established to ensure the upliftment and growth of the Rosebank area for all stakeholders.

“The RMD provides a platform for collective representation and advocating for stakeholders within the Rosebank node and works to enhance the attraction of the area for the creation of opportunities.”

According to Ngakane, the first phase of the project, the repair, and refurbishment of roads and pavements along Tyrwhitt and Bath Avenue, began in January 2023 as proof of concept.

“The road upgrade project is intended to address the conditions of the walkways and roads in the node, ensuring improved accessibility, walkability, and safety for the community, and the focus is mainly on addressing potholes, cracks, and pavements.”

He continues to explain that the RMD’s key priorities, aside from what’s already been mentioned is also to protect and enhance cultural and heritage assets, to maintain a safe, clean, and attractive environment, and to provide for an urban environment that is well connected to the public transport networks.

“These services are intended to supplement those provided by the municipality but in many instances are the only services being provided for stakeholders in the area.”
