Greenside High School hosted one of the four annual blood drives in cooperation with the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) on January 27.
The whole event was organised by Rasa Vythilingam and Gregory Shipton, teachers at the school.
Shipton states that the main reason is to help boost the declining bloodstock at the SANBS and also to show love and support to the ones who need the blood.
“Many learners in grades 10, 11, and 12 volunteered to donate, and 61 units of blood were donated from 66 volunteers.”
He passes on his gratitude to everyone who assisted in the blood drive and donated to save lives.
“Thank you to SANBS and our Blood Drive Peer Mentors, Nibawiya Menhennet, Saalihah Bhabha, and Salma Sacoor.”
Shipton concludes by stating that the next Greenside High blood drive will take place on April 4.
