Ward 73 councilor Eleanor Huggett found 2022 challenging but interesting

Service delivery matters kept Ward 73 councilor busy in 2022.

Ward 73 councilor Eleanor Huggett discusses her highlights for 2022.

Huggett said this year was an interesting and challenging one for everyone.

“A huge challenge has been one of service delivery. However, the backlog is mind-boggling, and residents are not getting the service delivery they deserve and for which they are paying. I wish to thank all the residents’ associations and residents for filling this gap by stepping up and adopting parks, cleaning the streets, organising fundraisers etc.”

Huggett added that the community was still waiting for the Reya Vaya route and the upgrade of Louis Botha to be completed and this is an ongoing challenge and inconvenience to the residents.

Huggett explained that the ongoing Storm Water Repair Project through Paterson Park and the Sewer Pipe Replacement Project neared the completion stage.

“The fact that there had been no maintenance and much of both are in a wetland in clay has caused massive delays. I am still waiting for information regarding the housing project in Paterson Park and if this is actually going to happen.”

The Ward 73 councilor concluded by thanking all the residents for their ongoing support and understanding in very difficult times.
