Africa Cares Tennis officially announces tournament dates

CEO of TR Brand Communications and Events, Tendai Rukwava shares exciting news about the Africa Cares Tennis Challenge starting in December at the Wanderers Stadium.

Tennis fans from all over Sandton and South Africa will be delighted to know that the anticipated Africa Cares Tennis Challenge which was scheduled for last year will commence later this year.

The African tennis challenge of the year, which sadly had to be postponed back in 2021 due to the omicron variant outbreak, had its officials announce the relaunch of the tournament on September 20. The Africa Cares Tennis Challenge will welcome tennis fanatics to a weekend filled with sweat, blood, and tears at the Wanderers Stadium from December 3 to 4.

Players participating in the tournament will be announced in the following weeks and will feature a diverse group of local and international tennis stars. The two-day challenge that aims to put African tennis on the map will also address an important issue that has been affecting the country for a long time, gender-based violence (GBV).

“Women in South Africa are five times more likely to be killed as a result of gender-based violence. As a protest and plea to stop GBV in South Africa we saw it fit to host Africa Cares Tennis Challenge. We want to use the impact of sport to help inspire positive change,” said the CEO of TR Brand Communications and Events, Tendai Rukwava.

During the organisation’s previous event in partnership with Mercedes Benz Sandton, Rukwava and guest speakers shared their wisdom on how leaders of various industries can combat this public health issue.
