Parktown High School for Girls to host Nicarela charity market

The Nicarela team responsible for the market are all volunteers, should anyone wish to assist in any way, please email nicarelacharity@gmail.com.

Parktown High School for Girls will host this year’s Nicarela charity market taking place from October 7-9.

The charity’s chairman Peter Atteridge said the charity’s popular Christmas market has been reinvented to offer patrons a new experience.

“The market under the Jacarandas is a copy and paste of the original market in George Hay Park, with a modern, summer twist. The most important thing for us is to offer a wonderful visitor experience because we have charities relying on us to support them.”

Children eagerly wait for their faces to be painted at the market.

Atteridge added that Nicarela has over 10 beneficiary charities in their books.

“The market profits will be a welcomed boost to the fund which has experienced an understandable lull over the past two years. All profits taken at the Jacaranda market will go directly to the umbrella fund which sponsors organisations such as Frida Hartley, Guild Cottage, Hospice Wits and Bethany.”

Market stalls will include jewelry, clothing, deli delights and children’s toys. Visitors can choose from the various food stalls including pork ribs and vegetarian Buddha bowls.

“The market promises something for everyone with live music and DJs throughout the three days. Parents can shop and relax with peace of mind while their kids enjoy the various games, activities and inflatables in the dedicated children’s park. Four-legged friends are welcome if on a lead,” said Atteridge

The market’s details are: Friday 16:00-22:00, Saturday 10:00 – 22:00 and Sunday 10:00- 16:00. The address is: Parktown High School for Girls, Tyrone Road and tickets can be bought on Quicket or at the door.
