Orange Grove Residents Association hosts its first networking event

COGRA chairperson wants better for Orange Grove businesses.

Community of Orange Grove Residents Association (COGRA) chairperson hopes networking sessions will boost businesses in Orange Grove.

Chairperson Nigel Branken said the association held its first business networking breakfast on October 1.

Ward 73 Councilor Eleanor Huggett engages with a resident.

“The main aim for the session was to get businesses to talk to each other, get to know each other and hopefully end up working together in the future. So that we can see the economy in orange grove grow. Long term we will look into establishing a chamber of commerce, what can we do to improve the conditions in Orange Grove for businesses to flourish especially along Louis Botha Road.”

Prophet Oupa Ngwato participates in the community business session.

Ward 73 Councillor Eleanor Hugett added that she was glad to be part of initiatives that help the ward grow.

“I was honoured to be invited and it was a fruitful and innovative initiative. I particularly enjoyed meeting the residents and I support any ventures that help the ward grow.”

Branken noted that although some of the business owners had safety concerns, the networking session was about bettering businesses in the area.

“The association is made up by the community of 30 people, which began two months ago to look at different ways which can develop Orange Grove. One of the first things we felt was important was we set up committees.”
