Husband and wife arrested for armed robbery

A husband and wife reportedly robbed a victim at knife-point in Orange Grove and were apprehended by Norwood police.

A couple was put behind bars by Norwood police for allegedly robbing a member of the public.

Norwood Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Eric Masotsha reported that on July 6 at about 19:00, a victim was attacked by two suspects while walking along Louis Botha Avenue at the corner of 7th Street in Orange Grove. “The complainant was grabbed by his throat by a male suspect who was holding a knife while the female suspect searched the victim and took R650 from his pockets and a lotto ticket.

“Afterwards, he came to report the matter at the Norwood SAPS. Instruction was then given to crime office members to trace the suspects as a description as well as their whereabouts had been given,” said Masotsha.

On July 9, the suspects were traced and arrested at their place of residence. The spokesperson said both were charged with armed robbery. The suspects will appear in court in due course.
