Residents in several areas are encouraged to take note of the water outage happening.
Johannesburg Water wishes to inform residents of the emergency shutdown of the Parktown reservoir. This is due to a major burst on the 700-mm inlet of the reservoir supply.
“We estimate that the reservoir has sufficient capacity to continue supplying areas with water during the process of repairs.”
According to Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck, the shutdown started at 9:00 and the estimated time for completion is 18:00 on July 27.
Affected areas may include:
Saxonwold, Hyde Park, Dunkeld, Park view, Parktown North, Parkhurst, Greenside, Riviera, Melrose, Oaklands, Orchards, Houghton Estate, Parkwood, Norwood, Fairwood, Highlands North, Kew, The Gardens, Illovo, Killarney, Westcliff, Rosebank, and Fairway.
