Spread the word on pet adoptions

Attendees afforded opportunity to interact with pets up for adoption at Radisson Red Hotel Rosebank.

South Africa has many animals in need of loving, stable homes. In a bid to improve the quality of life of abandoned pets, and provide them with loving homes, pet adoption days have become a successful activity by animal rescue centres.

In celebration of the launch of Radisson Red Hotel Rosebank’s pet-friendly programme – where guests can bring their pets along for stays at the hotel – they collaborated with Woodrock Animal Rescue to host a pet adoption day. Woodrock Animal Rescue has been active for more than 36 years and, to date, have helped to rehabilitate and rehome thousands of pets.

People who attended the adoption day at the hotel on July 2 had the opportunity to play with the pets up for adoption, and were encouraged to share their experience and spread the word on social media.

Curator at Radisson Red Hotel Rosebank Carly de Jong said, “One of our core pillars as a business is to play an active role in the upliftment of our surrounding communities, and we couldn’t think of a better partnership to show our support to animals in need.

“As a pet-friendly hotel in Rosebank, we believe that this goes hand-in-hand with our values, and we look forward to showing continuous support to Woodrock Animal Rescue and similar initiatives.”

Guests who attended the pet adoption day took part in the following:

  • Interaction with the Woodrock Animal Rescue team and the pets up for adoption
  • Education around pet adoption and how to make a difference
  • Discounted coffee and complimentary ‘puppuccinos’ for furry friends
  • Delicious bites on sale for animals
  • A photographer to capture the day.

Stella Meldau founder of the Woodrock Animal Rescue said, “We are elated to have the opportunity to host a pet adoption day at the Radisson Red in Rosebank.

“All our puppies at Woodrock Animal Rescue come from dire situations, and were rescued from certain deaths, or lives with neglect and abuse. We implore those [who visit us] help find forever homes for these deserving animals.”
