National hockey team takes young players on board

St Mary’s School, Waverley, hockey players to represent South Africa U18 side.

Two first team hockey players from St Mary’s School, Waverley, made waves on the national front. Head of marketing Kathy Mittendorf said Kristy Leonard in Grade 12, who is the current St Mary’s hockey captain, was selected as captain of the South African U18 side which would play three tests against Namibia starting July 10 in Stellenbosch.

Hannah White in Grade 11 was chosen as a member of the U17 South African High Performance training squad. This squad participated in a training camp in the first week of July.
